Vimmerby…klein aber OHO!
Der Vimmerby Marktplatz “Torget” ist das Herz unserer kleinen Stadt. Fakten-reicher Rundum-Blick:
Das alte Rathaus, der Amor-Springbrunnen, das ehrwürdige Stadthotel, der Sommer-Bullerbü-Spielplatz, der beste Buchladen in town und …das Eis-Café als spätere “Ziel-Linie”.
Vimmerby-Geschichte und ASTRID-Plätze
Gemeinsam bummeln wir durch die alten, gemütlichen Gassen der Stadt, schauen uns die ältesten Gebäude an und entdecken die ein oder andere charmante Vimmerby-Geschichte und ASTRID-Plätze.
Wollt Ihr erfahren:
…warum es eine “Bootsmann-Gasse” mitten im Zentrum, weit weg vom Wasser gibt?…welche Geschichte sich hinter den “unechten, aufgehübschten" Fassaden-Fenstern in der Stångatan verbirgt?…wo in Vimmerby die “Suppenschüssel-Doktorszene” vom “Michel (Emil)-Film gedreht wurde?…warum der Schweden-Eisbecher und die Schweden-Torte nicht wirklich etwas mit Schweden zu tun haben?…wer der “LUFFARE” (Landstreicher) mit Rad und Grammophon, der sich “Düsseldorf” nannte, war?…wo ASTRID zur Schule gegangen ist?…was es mit einer alten Leipziger Sanduhr auf der Prediger-Kanzel in der Kirche auf sich hat?…wo man auf dem Friedhof das Grab von Madicken (Anne-Marie Fries) und den kleinen Brüdern Phalén (Ursprung für die Brüder Löwenherz) finden kann?…dass es auch eine über 1200 Jahre alte Wikingersiedlung in Vimmerby gibt?

What would (my) VIMMERBY be without Astrid Lindgren! Let’s start (my) entertaining and inspiring city stroll “singing” and greeting Astrid. By the way… we walk in any weather; umbrellas are ready and waiting!
Vimmerby… small but WOW!
The Vimmerby marketplace “Torget” is the heart of our little town. A fact-filled 360-degree view: The old Town Hall, the Amor Fountain, the venerable Stadshotell, the summer "Bullerbü" playground, the best bookstore in town, and… the ice cream café as our eventual “finish line.”
Vimmerby History and ASTRID Places
Together, we’ll stroll through the old, cozy alleys of the city, look at the oldest buildings, and discover charming Vimmerby stories and ASTRID locations.
Do you want to find out:

November 1989, the fall of the Wall — (m)y wondrous GATEWAY into a new, traveling FREEDOM. InterRail through all of Europe & my most important realization:“The limits of your language mean the limits of your world! — LANGUAGE is the key to the world!” — L. WittgensteinStudied Education in Halle & intensive English+Spanish on the side. Lived and worked in Switzerland, Thailand & Hong Kong & studied in Hull/England. Hospitality, humanity, trust, tolerance & optimism — a new, different ME — after 6 years abroad and traveling to over 30 countries.Then… for 20 years, my first Passion Project “Der LernLaden” in Halle: teaching languages, creating culture & building networks. And in the middle of it all, my most beautiful calling: being ANTON’s (born 2006) MAMA.“Be clever and stick to WONDERS” — “my” Mascha Kaléko.… and in 2021, a wonder-filled new beginning in Vimmerby.
